Why Are Prepositions So Confusing?
1) It is often difficult to define a preposition without using another preposition.
2) Prepositions are often used in expressions where their meaning is entirely different from any predictable meaning. The expressions, therefore, must be learned as vocabulary units.
3) Prepositions begin adverb phrases but sometimes, they can be adverbs.
4) Prepositions in combination with another word may have multiple meanings.
